Some growth is planned, shaped, and managed. Other growth is simply allowed. Over time, what's left alone becomes unmistakable – larger, wilder, and a little out of proportion with what sits beside it.
Tony, the local barber on Cleveland Avenue, once pointed out that this birch was never really trimmed – and that's why it grew so much bigger than the one across the road. It made me think about what happens when something is simply allowed to grow, and how easily we miss the slow, steady stories happening right in front of us.
