There are seasons, places, and even people who seem to stand at the edge of one thing and the beginning of another. Between worlds can mean living between past and present, tradition and change, belonging and distance. It is often an uneasy place, but also a revealing one.
I met him in a small town in China that felt, in many ways, suspended between eras - one foot still in the feudal past, the other stepping into contemporary life. He seemed to carry something of that tension quietly. And yet what first caught my eye was not the contrast around him, but his radiant warmth as I passed by.
Sometimes the in-between is not emptiness, but witness. A place where what has been and what is coming meet in a single human life.
