Upcoming Exhibition at CARE Gallery, NJ: ROOTED – The Journey of a Living Faith
I’m honoured to share that my work will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at CARE Gallery, a visual arts initiative of The CARE Center of New Jersey (CCNJ).
CARE Gallery isn’t simply an exhibition space – it’s a gathering place built around the belief that art can cultivate connection, invite reflection, and affirm human dignity. Their stated vision is to cultivate a cultural space where contemporary art awakens empathy, strengthens community bonds, and contributes to the restoration of lives and neighbourhoods – where beauty and justice work together toward human flourishing.
The Exhibition: ROOTED – The Journey of a Living Faith
The exhibition is titled ROOTED: The Journey of a Living Faith.
The premise is simple and quietly profound: faith is not a single moment of belief, but a lifelong journey – formed through the witness of others, rooted by the work of God, and shaped through contemplation, perseverance, and hope.
Through the works of Shantel Miller and Lorraine Simonds, ROOTED explores the transformative work of faith as it takes hold within us and bears fruit in our lives. As visitors move through the exhibition, they’re invited to consider the people, experiences, and moments that have shaped their own journey.

Why this exhibition matters to me
My work has always been rooted in portraiture and emotional narrative – the kind of painting that tries to tell the truth gently. I’m drawn to the places where the dark grittiness of life collides with very real and revealing light of hope.
